美国政府你方唱罢、我方登场,换了一届又一届。相比之下,商用飞机制造商们的命运要比它们更加长久。政治的时间范畴完全不同于航空航天领域。波音787飞机计划可以追溯到克林顿政府执政后期——那个时候,787尚未完成它的第一次交付。直到奥巴马第一任期接近结束时, 787对中国的交付才得以实现。即便是粗略回顾恶名昭彰的维基解密(Wikileaks)电文,也会发现里面阐述了无论白宫的主人是谁,美国、中国和波音的命运总是存在着千丝万缕的联系。

周六,波音的第一家中国工厂正式启用。该工厂向中国国际航空公司交付了一架由伦顿建造、舟山完工的波音737 Max 8飞机。由伦顿建造、100英亩新建工厂舟山完工,并在此交付的波音737 Max最终供应量今后将达到每年100架。

与中国商飞合资组建的完工中心将负责乘客搭乘航班之前的最后一个步骤:乘客座椅和其他内饰的安装。交付中心仍由波音负责,根据契约进行的交付按照西雅图总部的模式。最终,波音生产帝国珍贵而稀缺的商品,喷漆车间将成为该工厂的特色车间。

处于政治和经济风暴中的舟山仍是一个的安静岛屿。虽然贸易战的动荡和中国经济的放缓在波音公司的新岗哨附近肆虐,然而,这座毗邻上海的岛屿却保持着波澜不惊。
