Wisk CEO Brian Yutko departs to lead commercial product development at Boeing

Wisk CEO Brian Yutko is leaving his role at the wholly-owned Boeing subsidiary to become the vice president of product development at Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA), a move that signals the continued importance of the autonomous electric vertical take-off and landing company to Boeing’s broader research and development activities.

Yutko is handing over the reins at Wisk to Sebastien Vigneron, a veteran of Dassault Aviation, Bombardier and Virgin Hyperloop who most recently served as Wisk’s senior vice president of engineering and programs. Although Wisk will continue to operate as an independent company, Yutko in his new role at BCA “will provide strategic oversight and support to Wisk,” the companies said in a press release.

“I think it’s a really good time for us to be doing this transition,” Yutko elaborated in an exclusive interview with The Air Current. “We’re getting really close to flying the airplane. We’ve got a great foundation of the technology and the product and the team that we’ve built, largely thanks to Sebastien and his team, and the work in front of us to go and do over the coming years is really clear. And Sebastien is by far the best person to go and see through the next couple of years and get us into entry into service.”
