Vertical Aerospace has revealed significant progress with the flight test campaign for the first full-scale prototype of its VX4 electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft, which was conducting landmark flights while the rest of the eVTOL industry’s attention was focused on the 2023 Paris Air Show.
The Air Current was at Vertical’s flight test center at Cotswold Airport in Kemble, UK, immediately prior to the aircraft’s first tethered hover on battery power on June 16. In the weeks since, the company has carried out a number of tethered and untethered flight tests, reaching up to 40 knots in thrust-borne flight over the airfield.
