LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Textron Aviation on Oct. 21 announced three new additions to its Citation business jet lineup at the National Business Aviation Association’s annual conference, with the debut of what it is calling its third generation Cessna Citation CJ4, CJ3 and M2 light business jets.
This announcement comes at a pivotal time for the company, which on Oct. 20 — just a day before the event kicked off — closed a crucial deal with the nearly 5,000 unionized machinists that build aircraft at its Wichita, Kansas manufacturing facilities, bringing a nearly month-long strike-induced work stoppage to an end.

When these employees return to work on Wednesday, Oct. 23, after 29 days off the job, the company will spend the remainder of the year making up ground in pursuit of its delivery and performance targets, which are expected to slip due to the strike. Simultaneously, with this tailwind of an impending resumption in work secured, the company’s revived presence at the annual business aviation gathering and subsequent airplane announcement illustrates the extent to which it has had to juggle concurrent customer, labor and supply chain challenges in its stakeholder universe.
