Hyundai Motor Group’s struggling electric vertical take-off and landing subsidiary, Supernal, laid off the majority of its staff on Friday in an admission that it is far from being able to bring a viable eVTOL aircraft to market despite heavy spending and hiring over the past half decade.
A spokesperson for California-based Supernal confirmed to The Air Current in an email that the advanced air mobility company laid off 296 people on Feb. 27. Multiple sources with direct knowledge of the development told TAC that the company has retained a skeleton staff of around 70 to 80 people to continue operations.
