The Air Current (TAC), a leading source of aviation news and intelligence, today announced the expansion of its award-winning newsroom with the addition of veteran journalist Julie Johnsson as Global Correspondent. Johnsson will widen TAC’s industry-leading coverage of commercial aerospace, airlines and financial markets.

Highly respected across both the industry and financial communities, Johnsson’s addition to the newsroom demonstrates growing momentum behind TAC’s model of sustainable growth and high-impact journalism: investing in great people and giving them the resources to deliver high-quality, impactful reporting and insight.
“Julie has a globally-recognized reputation for bringing clarity to the aviation industry through her fair, incisive and market-defining reporting,” said Jon Ostrower, founder and editor-in-chief of TAC. “I have long been an admirer of her work and am thrilled to count her among our stellar team of expert journalists as TAC continues its expansion.”
Before joining TAC, Johnsson was an award-winning journalist at Bloomberg News for 15 years. As senior aerospace reporter, she led coverage of Boeing, Lockheed Martin and the geopolitical forces shaping global aviation. She previously covered aviation and airlines for the Chicago Tribune and Crain’s Chicago Business, and was a finalist for the top UK journalism award for unearthing one of the largest fake parts scandals in aviation history.
TAC’s continued growth and assemblage of top talent in a challenging media environment is the result of a clear formula: deliver unmatched industry journalism that provides a competitive advantage to individual and corporate subscribers who, in turn, make possible a continuous investment in expanding our editorial coverage and suite of products.
In the past 12 months, TAC’s newsroom has nearly doubled in size. The company launched TAC/Intel, a real-time industry intelligence service, alongside a custom iOS app with an Android equivalent arriving imminently.
Johnsson is based in Los Angeles and can be reached at julie@theaircurrent.com.
