In a statement provided to The Air Current, the Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA) said that it has “concerns” about Federal Aviation Administration chief nominee Bryan Bedford’s past efforts to fight the 1,500 hour rule, which requires applicants for an Airline Transport Pilot certificate to have at least that many hours. Bedford’s nomination was officially announced on March 17 by President Donald Trump and will require confirmation by the U.S. Senate in the coming weeks.
