Earlier this year, the U.S. House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense (HAC-D) signaled that it wanted to see closer coordination on advanced air mobility between the Department of Defense and the Federal Aviation Administration. The DoD and FAA evidently got the memo.

On October 25, the U.S. Air Force’s innovation arm, AFWERX, and the FAA announced an agreement to share AAM flight test data to accelerate the safe integration of these platforms into the National Airspace System. The agreement comes as the nascent electric vertical take-off and landing industry has expressed concerns about the FAA’s ability to manage that process on its own.
