Pratt holds GTF inspection service bulletin to August 7

Pratt & Whitney now plans to issue detailed guidance to airlines on required engine inspections for Airbus A320neo family operators on August 7, a company spokeswoman tells The Air Current. TAC interviewed RTX Corp. Chief Executive Greg Hayes on July 25 when the engine maker was intending to release its service bulletin to operators on July 31. A Federal Aviation Administration airworthiness directive is expected to follow.

The spokeswoman said the initial target for the service bulletin was “approximate” and the company has “been working with airline customers since July 25 to confirm the plan and schedule” engine recalls. The first tranche of 200 engines in an affected population manufactured between the fourth quarter of 2015 and the third quarter of 2021 have to be returned for the urgent inspections by September 15 — 43 days from now.
