Hawaiian Airlines expects to make a decision by year end or early 2024 on replacing its fleet of Boeing 717s the carrier flies on its interisland routes, CEO Peter Ingram told The Air Current.
Although he acknowledged that the aging fleet of 128-seat 717s needs replacement, Ingram noted the type is perfect for the carrier’s frequent and short eight archipelago-hopping city pairs. “If I could buy new 717s, I would,” he said in an interview at the International Air Transport Association’s Annual General Meeting in Istanbul.
