Private jet charter company Wheels Up has laid off 11% of its pilots today as the company sees declining flight crew attrition rates amid ongoing financial woes, according to multiple people familiar with the matter.
“Over the past year, we’ve taken significant steps towards repositioning Wheels Up and setting ourselves up for long-term sustainable growth,” a company representative said in a conference call with affected employees that was reviewed by The Air Current.
“As these changes produce results, we’re continuing to adjust our model, our processes, our procedures and resources to drive an efficient operation. Part of this work included a very comprehensive review of our pilot staffing model.”
