Boeing ratcheted up pressure on SPEEA, the union representing 17,000 engineers, scientists and technical workers, after its members rejected the largest wage increases offered in 40 years and voted overwhelmingly to approve a strike.
In an Aug. 21 message to union members, Boeing said it had withdrawn perks for 2026 that it had promised the white collar union for early approval of the new collective bargaining agreement. The forfeited pay includes an immediate 3% guaranteed wage increase retroactive to February and a 40% hike to potential annual incentive payouts.
“With the disappointing vote results, we are now diverting those dollars to execute our plan and prepare for a potential strike,” wrote Ben Nimmergut, Boeing vice president and functional chief engineer for production engineering. “That means the retroactive pay and higher incentive plan target for 2026 are no longer available.”
